Used Oil means any oil that has been refined from crude, or any synthetic oil, that has been used, and, as a result of use or as a consequence of extended storage or spillage, has been contaminated with physical or chemical impurities.
Containers for used oil must be clearly labeled "Used Oil Only". (Excel Tank Stickers put you in compliance.) The following can be put into the container. Motor Oils:
Crankcase oils Engine lubricating oils Transmission fluids Gearbox & Differential oils
Industrial Oils:
Hydraulic oils Compressor oils Turbine oils Bearing oils Gear oils Railroad oils Hydrocarbon based metalworking oils
Special oils (require testing):
Transform oils (PCB testing required) Refrigeration oils (Chlorine testing required)
The following are NOT used oil and must be kept in separate containers for removal by us or one of our affiliates.
Antifreeze (store in labeled container) Brake fluid Other automotive wastes Paint Thinners Gasoline Solvents (high chlorine or low flash) Oils w/ flashpoint < 141 º F Oils containing > 1000 ppm halogens Wastewater containing small amounts of oil
Used Oil Filters should be drained for 24 hours. This is mandatory and a sign should be posted in the shop area to this effect. Filters are totally recycled with nothing going to landfills. Call Excel to arrange delivery of a 97 gallon filter cart and to arrange a pickup schedule.
