Our Oil Management Plan Protects You
Excel Oil Service Testing Program
Used hydrocarbons can be hazardous or non-hazardous depending on composition and containment levels. Used automotive fluids are designated by the Illinois EPA as a "Special Waste". However, this classification can change due to mixing hazardous waste into non-hazardous oils. The Federal and State EPAs have set levels of contamination allowed so used products can be properly classified. Testing is the only way one can be sure that product is a "Special Waste" and not hazardous.
Excel Oil Service conducts testing utilizing an independent lab using EPA approved methodology. Excel uses gear pump trucks and picks up only non-hazardous waste streams. Excel does not mix automotive used oils with industrial used oils and does not use vac trucks for servicing "Special Waste" generators. Our tankwagons have calibrated separate compartments which provide complete segregation of various waste streams. This way, no cross contamination of used oils can occur.
Excel tests each truckload
for: Legal Limits (Max) PCB level < 2 PPMs Chlorine % <1,000 PPMs Heavy Metals <100 PPMs <2 PPMs <10 PPMs <5 PPMs Flash Point > 141 degrees F
This testing demonstrates the non-hazardous status of your used oils. This is very important to you because, according to Federal and State EPA regulations, you, the generator, are responsible for your used oil "from cradle to grave". This means if your special waste hauler mismanages or mixes your waste stream with hazardous materials that contaminate a site you can be held responsible for paying for the cleanup. That's why choosing a company with a proven oil management plan is so important.
When you use Excel as your special waste hauler your product is segregated, tested and then incinerated in industrial boilers so that no residual effects remain. All that is left is a clear paperwork trail and no potential environmental liabilities for you in the future. This program has worked for thousands of generators since 1974.
Proper Handling of Used Oils and Waste Streams
Containers for used oil must be clearly labeled "Used Oil Only" (Excel tank stickers put you in compliance).
Only the following used oils can be put into the container:
Used Oil Does NOT include: (Keep these separate-we can arrange pickup through our affiliates)
